The Catalan Government has launched an extraordinary support measure for cattle farmers whose herds have been impacted by lumpy skin disease. The initiative will cover the interest and associated expenses of the loans granted by the Catalan Finance Institute (ICF) to ensure liquidity for affected farms.

These loans are intended to provide immediate financial resources until the official compensations are paid for animal culling, disposal of contaminated materials, or the temporary loss of productive capacity. The Government’s coverage of financial costs will remain in effect until farmers receive their corresponding compensations and can fully repay the loan.
The Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda is finalizing the compensation criteria and valuation scales, a process that the Government acknowledges is complex due to the scope of the outbreak and the administrative requirements involved. To guarantee the continuity of the farms, the ICF loan line has been activated without delay.
Throughout this week, the Catalan Finance Institute will contact the affected farmers to begin processing the loans and provide the necessary support.
