The meat industry jumps on the AI ​​bandwagon

Argal, Noel and Vall Companys promote innovative and sustainable projects through the PERTE of the agri-food sector. This is what the newspaper La Razón announces. The second PERTE of the agri-food sector, which will come into force before the end of the year and will have financing of 100 million euros.

The food industry has been immersed for years in a process of transforming its production processes to make them more competitive and sustainable.

The first PERTE approved in 2022 awarded 182 million euros and has reached more than 286 primary projects, from 224 companies, with actions in 14 autonomous communities that opted for innovation as an instrument to improve competitiveness and sustainable transformation through of twenty primary projects presented that sought a comprehensive transformation of processes throughout the entire value chain of the meat sector through digitalization, automation and the promotion of sustainable practices to reduce the carbon footprint.

The agri-food sector contributes almost 10% to GDP and is made up, for the most part, of small and medium-sized companies. 96% of the more than 30,500 companies are SMEs. In this way, PERTE is conceived as a set of measures that benefit companies and self-employed workers in the agri-food sector and that generate synergies in order to improve the traceability and safety of the agri-food sector.
