The meat sector is at the heart of the Cantabria Government’s roadmap with a specific plan planned for 2026

The meat sector will be a priority in the Cantabria Government’s livestock strategy, which is already working on implementing a specific plan with a budget of nearly €500,000 in the 2026 budget, aimed at strengthening its development and competitiveness.

This plan, which will be developed in collaboration with all associations and stakeholders involved in the value chain, seeks to become a key tool for boosting the sector’s viability and efficiency, in a context marked by rising costs and the need to guarantee stability and profitability for livestock farms.

In parallel, the regional government has announced that it will continue developing its roadmap for the entire primary sector, which will include the implementation, starting in 2027, of a specific plan for the dairy sector, also based on consensus among all links in the chain.

In addition to boosting the meat sector, the regional government maintains various lines of support for the entire livestock sector, including aid linked to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), genetic improvement programs, modernization of facilities and support for cooperatives, with the aim of strengthening competitiveness, production quality and sustainability.
