This V meeting took place in online format, and began with the welcome of Laura Alegre, Director of Communication at Carnimad (an organization to which Educarne belongs). The three professionals who took part in the round table agreed that they have never felt undervalued or worse treated for being women in a predominantly male sector. In the case of Esperanza Díaz, who travels for work to Arab countries regularly, she explains that “the most important thing is respect. In these countries, which are accustomed to seeing women differently, they have always respected me and obviously I have respected them too.” “.
Ana Paris, who is part of the Spanish Butchers Selection, has made the point that she should not be pigeonholed by gender. In the butchery sector, for example, women have traditionally been more dedicated to poultry and processing, while men were in charge of boning and butchering noble meats. Ana Paris has denied this: “It is not true that women are better processors and worse at boning. In the Spanish Selection of Butchers, I feel highly valued, and we have men and women who are equally pioneers and specialists in production.”
Esther Ferrero stated: “I am proud to be part of an association of women ranchers, in which we all share and learn from each other. They are feisty and brave women.”
