Day of Pastoral Schools. Building a sustainable livestock: the role of the Pastoral Schools

The next day, November 3 and 4, the Pastor Schools day will be organized. Building a sustainable livestock: the role of the Pastoral Schools, an appointment that has the support of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and that was born in the context of the support provided by the ministry for the start-up of the School de Pastores de Brieva as a unique project selected to face the Demographic Challenge and Depopulation in the Sierra Verde of La Rioja, with the Brieva de Cameros City Council as promoter of the project. This day will attend ten schools of shepherds from Spain from the Canary Islands, Extremadura, Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Madrid, Cantabria and Aragon.

The meeting offers presentations, round tables and group work. The round tables will address the role of the local administration in promoting extensive livestock and shepherd schools and the need for contractors and the profiles of professionals required by ranchers.

Among the topics that will be discussed is the problem of the functioning and dynamics of the schools for shepherds, as well as pedagogical issues such as homogenizing the contents between the schools, having complementary programs between them and the certification of training.
