Foro Ganadero Cárnico is collaborating in the Dialogue Conference “Science, Health and Taste: the Mission of Animal Protein”, which will take place on Friday, 6 February 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, on its Valencia campus.
The conference aims to create a space for rigorous reflection and dialogue on the role of animal protein in food, health, sustainability and agri-food policy, integrating scientific, institutional, productive and social perspectives in a context of growing public debate.

A multidisciplinary and participatory programme
The event will begin with an institutional welcome by representatives of CEU and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, followed by the opening lecture “The impact of animal protein on human evolution”, delivered by Federico Guillén Salazar, Professor of Zoology at CEU Cardenal Herrera University.
Throughout the morning, a programme combining scientific dissemination, debate and active participation will be developed, including the following activities:

Presentation of the book A spasso con Lucy, by socio-economic analyst Pietro Paganini.

Discussion with the Cajamar Foundation on science, production and society.

Interactive activity “Truth or myth?”, with representatives of livestock and animal production sector associations.

Round table on the strategic autonomy of livestock farming in European policy, with Members of the European Parliament from different political groups.

Intervention by mentalist Álex Ruiz.

Live podcast “Influencers… at the table”, with science communicators, chefs and nutrition experts.
The conference will conclude with an institutional closing session and a gastronomic tasting, highlighting products of animal origin from a cultural, scientific and social perspective.

UEECA’s participation in this initiative is part of its commitment to dissemination based on scientific evidence, informed dialogue with society and the promotion of spaces in which animal science can actively contribute to the major current debates on food, health and sustainability.
