Farmers interested in using the Xunta’s mobile slaughterhouse service may request it starting January 15

Farmers interested in using the service of the mobile slaughterhouse for sheep, goats and pigs launched by the Xunta will be able to request it starting next Monday, the 15th of this month of January. To order this service, you must call the telephone number 982 251 201, which will be operational from that date.

Taking these demands into account, the slaughterhouse routes will be organized, always trying to optimize this resource, whose main objective is to improve the management and profitability of many small livestock farms in areas far from large population centers and located at a distance from conventional slaughterhouses.

According to the work schedule, the slaughterhouse will be fully operational starting next January 19. In the next two weeks, the current stage of staff training and technical adjustments, necessary for its start-up, will be completed, and the first tests will be carried out on farms.

Sheep, goats and pigs

The slaughterhouse will facilitate the slaughter of sheep, goats and pigs – in this case especially Celtic pig farms – in these remote or mountain areas, thus optimizing the management of these farms by reducing livestock transportation costs and improving the time the quality of the meat and animal welfare.

The prices of the service range from 10 euros for sheep and goats under one year of age (only counting the slaughter and preparation of the carcass) to 50 euros for pigs, if storage and transportation to the point of delivery are also included distribution.
