INTERPORC, the Spanish White-Coat Pig Interprofessional Organisation, has once again brought the pork sector closer to society through sport, gastronomy and the promotion of an active lifestyle. On this occasion, it did so in Zaragoza, coinciding with three days of international basketball featuring the Spanish men’s and women’s national teams.
The ‘El bocata que te mueve’ initiative, developed as part of INTERPORC’s collaboration with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and with the support of Alimentos de España, offered thousands of fans the opportunity to share an experience centred around sport, food and Spanish gastronomy.
On 28, 29 and 30 August, more than 6,000 fans visited the Fan Zone at the Príncipe Felipe Arena, where the campaign distributed nearly 1,700 Serrano ham sandwiches.
The initiative coincided with the men’s national team’s match against Portugal, as part of its journey towards the Qatar 2027 World Cup, and with the women’s national team’s final two preparation matches against Mali and China ahead of the World Cup in Germany.

Serrano ham, a link between gastronomy and sport
The Serrano ham sandwich, one of the most recognisable foods in Spanish gastronomy, became an element through which people could share an experience connecting food, an active lifestyle, gastronomic tradition and sport.
INTERPORC’s association with the Spanish National Teams also enables the organisation to connect with society through values such as effort, perseverance, self-improvement, commitment and teamwork.
These principles are closely linked to elite sport, but they are also present in the daily work carried out by thousands of professionals who form part of Spain’s white-coat pig sector.
Active lifestyle and balanced diet
According to INTERPORC’s Director General, Alberto Herranz, “when we support our national teams, we are not simply standing alongside great athletes. We are alongside people who represent ideals that we deeply share within the pork sector and that we want to help convey to all the fans who experience and enjoy these moments with their idols”.
Herranz adds that “‘El bocata que te mueve’ allows us to do this in a very approachable way, as it brings together food and Spanish gastronomy with sport and those who enjoy it. We want it to form part of these moments of togetherness and excitement and to help convey the importance of combining a balanced diet with an active lifestyle”.
The initiative held in Zaragoza forms part of INTERPORC’s ongoing work to bring the pork sector closer to citizens through initiatives linked to sport, gastronomy and experiences capable of creating a stronger connection with society.
Along these same lines, INTERPORC recently organised the ‘Orgullo Rural’ initiative during the 2026 Football World Cup, bringing the excitement of the Spanish National Team’s matches to eight municipalities connected to some of the stars of ‘La Roja’.
More than 7,000 people took part in the initiative, sharing Spain’s journey towards the world title while also enjoying Serrano ham sandwiches.
