The Government of La Rioja has launched a new extraordinary aid scheme endowed with €5.5 million to support the maintenance of professional agricultural activity, with particular attention to the sectors most affected by rising costs, including the pig sector.
The measure forms part of the Action Plan to mitigate the impact of the cost crisis on the agricultural sector of La Rioja 2026-2027, with an overall budget of €10.7 million.
The objective is to provide liquidity and help professional farms address the loss of profitability caused by factors such as the rising cost of feed, diesel and fertilisers, climate challenges and market volatility.

€1,000 per farm in 2026
The aid will be distributed through two calls. The first, corresponding to 2026, has a budget of €3 million and establishes a basic payment of €1,000 per farm, which beneficiaries are expected to receive during October.
The second call will mobilise a further €2.5 million during the first months of 2027. At this stage, modules will be applied according to production orientation and the recorded statistical loss of profitability.
The accumulated amount will have a maximum limit of €3,000, rising to €4,500 in the case of legal entities and associative organisations.
Individuals or legal entities and entities without legal personality, including shared ownership holdings, may benefit provided that they have their tax domicile in La Rioja and are holders of a priority agricultural holding or are registered as self-employed workers in agricultural activity.
Automatic processing for those who submitted the CAP application
One of the main new features is the simplification of the procedure. Professional farmers and livestock farmers who submitted their Single CAP Application in 2026 will not have to submit a new application. The Administration will process the aid automatically using the information it already holds, unless the beneficiary expressly declines it.
Professionals registered as of 31 May 2026 in the Agricultural Holdings Register (REA) or Livestock Holdings Register (REGA) who have not submitted the CAP application this year will, however, have until 18 September to provide the necessary documentation.
The measure seeks to contribute to the continuity of professional farms in a context in which rising costs and market instability continue to affect their profitability and competitiveness.
