PROVACUNO promotes beef exports to Morocco with a trade mission in Casablanca

The Spanish beef sector continues to strengthen its international positioning. In this context, PROVACUNO has organised a trade mission in Casablanca (Morocco) with the aim of consolidating and expanding the presence of Spanish beef in this strategic North African market.

The event, organised in collaboration with the Spanish Economic and Trade Office in Casablanca, brought together nine Spanish exporting companies and more than twenty Moroccan importers and distributors, in a meeting designed to boost new business opportunities and strengthen bilateral trade relations.

During the mission, sector presentations were held highlighting the distinctive qualities of Spanish beef, such as its tenderness, juiciness, flavour and low fat content, as well as its traceability and compliance with the European Production Model. The programme also included bilateral meetings between exporters and buyers and concluded with a cocktail reception where Spanish beef took centre stage.

In addition, representatives of the Spanish companies visited several retail outlets in Morocco to gain first-hand insight into the local meat offering and analyse the opportunities offered by the market.

Export growth

Spanish beef exports to Morocco have experienced significant growth in recent years. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2025 exports increased in both volume and value, exceeding 5,000 tonnes, representing an increase of nearly 25% compared to 2024 and 100% compared to 2023.

This growth has been driven in part by the authorisation granted by the Moroccan authorities at the end of 2024 for the import of fresh beef from Spain. This is combined with increased domestic demand in Morocco, due to a reduction in livestock numbers and growing interest in fresh, high-quality imported products, particularly during periods of high demand such as Ramadan.

A strategic market

The trade mission held in Casablanca highlights the strategic importance of Morocco as a trading partner for the Spanish beef sector and the interest of Spanish companies in responding to growing demand with high value-added products. Promotional and technical cooperation initiatives such as this help to consolidate long-lasting and sustainable trade relations and to strengthen the presence of Spanish beef throughout the region.
