More than 10,000 veterinarians are working these days in slaughterhouses, farms, food industries, aquaculture facilities, distribution companies, collective catering, official public health and inspection services, analysis laboratories or customs control, among other places, with the aim of guaranteeing the population supply and food security in Spain during the state of alarm.
The president of the Collegiate Veterinary Organization-OCV, Luis Alberto Calvo Sáez, has highlighted the work of these professionals, whose role is “essential to assure citizens of supply in all their senses: availability, access, use and stability of resources ”
To disseminate among the public the fundamental role that veterinarians play in terms of disease prevention, public health or food safety ”, the OCV begins a campaign on social networks under the hashtag # VeterinarioEnAcción in order to make visible the work of the collective during the alarm state.
