ANAFRIC has conveyed to the Catalan Government the concerns of the meat and livestock sector regarding the potential economic consequences of the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
Representatives from ANAFRIC participated in a meeting convened by the Department of Business and Labor of the Government of Catalonia, chaired by Minister Miquel Sàmper. The meeting brought together representatives from various business sectors to analyze the impact of the conflict and assess its potential effects on economic activity and international trade.

During the meeting, ANAFRIC highlighted the particular vulnerability of the meat sector to certain variables that could be affected by the evolution of the conflict, such as increased energy costs, potential logistical disruptions on maritime and air routes, and higher export costs for temperature-controlled products.
The highly internationalized Spanish meat sector depends heavily on the stability of supply chains and foreign trade. In this regard, ANAFRIC has pointed out that any disruption to trade routes or energy costs can have a direct impact on the competitiveness of companies and the industry’s export capacity.
The association has also emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring the geopolitical situation and its effects on international markets, with the aim of anticipating potential measures to protect the sector’s economic activity.
ANAFRIC has reiterated the sector’s willingness to collaborate with public administrations to monitor the evolution of the international context and adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the stability and competitiveness of the meat industry, a strategic sector for the economy, employment, and development of rural areas.
