The European programme, led by PRODECA and co-funded by the European Union, will promote Catalan charcuterie products and Protected Designation of Origin wines in China, South Korea and Japan over the next three years.
Internationalisation remains one of the main drivers of growth for the Catalan food industry. In this context, PRODECA has presented the European project CREWAS (The Creative Revolution: European Wines and Charcuterie), a programme backed by €3 million in EU funding aimed at strengthening the international promotion of Catalan cured meat products and PDO wines in some of Asia’s fastest-growing markets.

Running from May 2026 to April 2029, the programme seeks to increase awareness, visibility and demand in China, South Korea and Japan. Activities related to meat products in Japan will be implemented as sanitary restrictions linked to African Swine Fever are lifted.
The campaign will include retail and e-commerce promotions, professional masterclasses and tastings, restaurant weeks and digital communication campaigns targeting both consumers and food industry professionals.
For meat companies, CREWAS offers an excellent opportunity to increase international visibility, develop new business relationships and strengthen the positioning of Catalan charcuterie products in strategic Asian markets, where consumers increasingly value quality, authenticity, traceability and European origin.
ANAFRIC welcomes initiatives such as CREWAS, which help strengthen the international presence of Catalan and Spanish meat products while supporting companies in expanding into new export markets and improving their global competitiveness.
