ElPozo Alimentación, Ramaderia Cortasa and Ganados Casals, top analysts of the 2025 PronosPorc Awards

Juan Pedro Florido from ElPozo Alimentación (Murcia), Josep M. Cortasa from Ramaderia Cortasa (Lleida), and Llorenç Casals from Ganados Casals (Lleida) have been announced today as the winners of the 15th edition of the PronosPorc Awards, organised and presented by Mercolleida. The ceremony was held at the La Llotja Congress Centre in Lleida.

The PronosPorc Awards recognise the best analysts in the Spanish pig sector based on the weekly pig market meetings held at Mercolleida.
Juan Pedro Florido won in the Fattening Pig category, Josep M. Cortasa in the Piglet category, and Llorenç Casals in the Sow category.

Fattening Pig

MERCOLLEIDA AND THE PRONOSPORC AWARDS

The pig prices set weekly by Mercolleida in the categories of fattening pig, piglet and sow are the result of meetings where producers, slaughterhouses and traders provide insights on the market situation. These prices serve as a reference for more than 90% of pig transactions in Spain and, in the case of fattening pigs, are the European benchmark for Spanish prices.

For this reason, Mercolleida was recognised in 2023 as the national Reference Market for the pig sector and other sectors such as cereals, joining the Ministry of Agriculture’s official registry of reference markets.

The awards highlight the best analysts in each category.
The winners are those who, throughout all 52 weeks of the year, made the most accurate price forecasts submitted weekly by the members of the Price Boards.

AWARDS WITH A LLEIDA IDENTITY

As in previous editions, Mercolleida collaborated with Lleida-based artist Monti Mateu Costa, a renowned ceramist and sculptor, who created the exclusive trophies for the event.

The Fattening Pig board includes 8 slaughterhouses and 8 producers.
The Piglet board includes 3 buyers and 3 sellers.
The Sow board includes 3 sellers and 3 slaughterhouses.
