PROVACUNO awards the best images of the beef sector in the seventh edition of ‘Objetivo Vacuno’

PROVACUNO has announced the winners of the seventh edition of ‘Objetivo Vacuno’, a photography competition that seeks to bring the reality of the sector closer to society through images reflecting the work of livestock farmers, the activity of the meat industry, rural life and the importance of beef in our gastronomy.

In this edition, the first prizes have been awarded to Urbano Suárez Fernández, María José Blázquez and Miguel Marcos Huertas, winners of the competition’s three categories, which address different aspects of livestock production and its connection with the territory and consumers.

Generational renewal and rural life take centre stage

The ‘Relevo rural’ category, dedicated to highlighting the continuity of livestock farms, the incorporation of young people into the sector and the transmission of knowledge between generations, has awarded first prize to Urbano Suárez Fernández for his photograph ‘Pasado y futuro’.

Second prize went to Paloma Camino, with ‘Confianza’, while María Belén Gil Sánchez took third place with ‘El legado continúa’.

This category focuses on one of the main challenges facing Spanish livestock farming: ensuring the continuity of activity in rural areas and recognising the role of new generations in maintaining farms and strengthening ties to the territory.

Livestock farming and its relationship with the environment

In the ‘Planeta Vacuno Remix’ category, María José Blázquez won first prize with her photograph ‘Ocaso de casta’.

Second place went to Francisco Javier Domínguez, with ‘Mimetizados’, and third place to Ubaldo Villabrille, with ‘Chatina, la vaquina curiosina’.

This category, designed for vertical-format photographs adapted to social media, aims to showcase the relationship between beef cattle farming and the territory, highlighting aspects such as animal welfare, biodiversity, landscape conservation and fire prevention.

Beef also takes centre stage in gastronomy

The third category, ‘Historias que alimentan’, focuses on the gastronomic side of the sector, featuring photographs of dishes and preparations that demonstrate the versatility of beef in cooking.

First prize went to Miguel Marcos Huertas for ‘Al fuego’. Meanwhile, María García Borrego received double recognition, winning second and third prizes with the photographs ‘Solo millo’ and ‘Bocado divino’, respectively.

An initiative to bring the sector closer to society

Through ‘Objetivo Vacuno’, PROVACUNO continues to promote photography as a tool for raising awareness and promoting the entire beef value chain, from livestock farms to industry, marketing and consumption.

The authors of the award-winning photographs will receive cash prizes ranging from €100 to €500. In addition, the selected images will be shared through the interprofessional organisation’s social media channels and other communication platforms.

The competition thus helps to give visibility to the professionals who work in the sector every day, while bringing the diversity of activities, landscapes and traditions that form part of beef production in Spain closer to the public.
