INTEROVIC Receives the “Alimentos de España” (Food from Spain) Award for Its “Paquito” Promotional Campaign

INTEROVIC has received the “Alimentos de España” (Food from Spain) Award for Promotion for its “Paquito” campaign—an initiative that has helped refresh the image of lamb and boost its presence in everyday dining. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, presented the award to INTEROVIC president Raúl Muñiz during a ceremony held on October 13 in Madrid.

The “Paquito” campaign has successfully transformed the traditional sandwich into a tool for promoting lamb consumption, engaging restaurants, chefs, and industry professionals across Spain. Its success lies in presenting this meat in formats that are accessible, versatile, and appealing—especially to younger generations.

During the event, Luis Planas highlighted the initiative’s potential to connect with a younger audience: “The ‘Paquito’ is a fantastic product, and delicious, too. It serves as a way to introduce lamb consumption to young people.”

The awards ceremony also included a tasting of the recipe created by Eduardo Cumbreño—from the restaurant Vaova Gastro in Mérida—who recently won the “Best Paquito in Spain” national competition.

The more than 300 attendees had the chance to experience this culinary creation, which serves as an example of how culinary innovation can help expand the occasions for consuming lamb.

With this recognition, INTEROVIC cements the “Paquito” as a benchmark initiative for promoting sheep and goat meat, demonstrating the importance of introducing these products to new audiences and encouraging their consumption beyond traditional preparations.
