As every year since 2008, we’re celebrating the European Day for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics, an initiative promoted by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and which turns 10 on November 18. Its aim is to raise awareness of the threat that antibiotic resistance poses to public health and to encourage the prudent use of antibiotics in the areas of human health, animal health and the environment.
The event, which this year will be held on Monday, November 18 at the Ministry of Health, will focus on a tour of the origins, the current situation from a One Health perspective and the international panorama of the project. The event will end with the presentation of the IV Edition of the PRAN Awards.
In this context, the PRAN, coordinated by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), is organizing an informative day to raise awareness and educate both society in general and health professionals about the seriousness of the problem of antimicrobial resistance, as well as the importance of the prudent use of antibiotics to deal with this global problem.
