Under the slogan “The Quiet Revolution of Sheep and Goats,” the event brought together farmers, processors, marketers, and experts from various fields to address the changes transforming the sector, changes that, although often overlooked, are redefining its future.
During the opening ceremony, ANAFRIC President José Friguls emphasized that the sector is undergoing a true silent revolution driven by technology, sustainability, efficiency, and adaptation to new markets. “While professionals remain focused on their daily work, profound transformations are taking place that will change the way we produce, market, and interact with consumers,” he noted.
During the opening ceremony, ANAFRIC expressed its gratitude to all the organizations that contributed to the success of the event, with special mention of Ganaderas Ovimancha, the host company for this edition, and Morea, for their support and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future of the sheep and goat sector.
Energy, Digitalization, and International Markets
The event provided an opportunity to learn about experiences and trends that will shape the development of the sheep and goat sector in the coming years. The program included presentations on energy efficiency, digitalization, artificial intelligence, international trade, product differentiation, and sector promotion.
Among the speakers were representatives from Balantia by Iberdrola, the Imancorp Foundation, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), Corpinnat, and INTEROVIC, who offered practical insights on how to address the new business and regulatory challenges affecting the sector. Of particular interest were the presentations focused on process automation, the incorporation of new technologies to facilitate generational renewal, the impact of international trade agreements, and the importance of building value through differentiation and communication.
A united sector to face the future
Beyond the technical content, the day once again highlighted the importance of these meetings for strengthening collaboration among companies and professionals throughout the sheep and goat value chain.
The collaborative and working atmosphere experienced throughout the day confirmed the sector’s commitment to facing the challenges of the coming years together, sharing experiences and generating new business and collaboration opportunities.
During the closing ceremony, it was announced that the next edition of the ANAFRIC Sheep and Goat Group meeting will take place in the province of Valladolid, with Cárnicas Tebi as the host company, thus taking the baton from Ganaderas Ovimancha to continue promoting this leading forum for the sector.
