The FEMP and the Livestock and Meat Forum have agreed to continue working together to promote and develop the Livestock and Meat Network, created to defend, promote, and raise awareness of the importance of the livestock and meat industry and to highlight its contribution to rural areas and the maintenance of their economic fabric, emphasizing its role as a key element for retaining population and territorial cohesion.

This agreement was reached during a meeting held at FITUR, attended by the Secretary General of the FEMP, Luis Martínez Sicluna; the Director of the Livestock and Meat Forum, Gregorio Rodríguez; and the President of the network and of the Provincial Council of Ávila, Carlos García.
A Key Sector of Our Economy
The livestock and meat sector is one of the main drivers of the Spanish economy, generating more than 2.5 million jobs in Spain, primarily in rural areas.
Therefore, both parties consider it appropriate to join forces to promote and develop the network as a tool for coordination, representation, awareness-raising, and dissemination of the role of local entities in the primary sector, as well as for technical support and the promotion of initiatives of common interest. They recognize the sector as one of the fundamental economic levers for the future of economic activity in rural areas and to ensure the geographical, political, and demographic diversity that reflects the reality of municipalities throughout the country.
In order to foster effective collaboration between the network and the forum, the parties commit to jointly developing a series of actions, such as drafting proposals for new lines of action and preparing informative and technical documents that compile the initiatives developed by the network.
The agreement also includes technical advice on national and international projects related to innovation, sustainability, and digitalization in the livestock and meat sector, as well as on the development of new strategic initiatives.
The text also proposes the possibility of offering support for the network’s institutional representation at trade fairs, conferences, and relevant industry events, including the necessary logistics to facilitate the participation of municipal representatives, and support in developing guidelines and criteria for recognizing outstanding municipal projects that promote the livestock and meat sector, including the production of associated materials and awards.
