Castilla y León will allocate more than €67 million to support the modernization and incorporation of young people in the agricultural sector

The bet on generational change is one of the commitments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development and this is reflected in the 2024 Budget, which includes an item of 67.54 million euros (an increase of 9%) in aid of modernization and incorporation of young people in the agricultural sector.

With this amount, an attempt will be made to continue progressing towards the goal of reaching 650 young people a year, a figure far exceeded in 2023 with 766 requests for aid for that purpose.

Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development has also promoted, together with Urcacyl, the Strategic Plan for Cooperativism 24-27, in which young people are also one of the fundamental axes.

Specifically, the Board encourages the incorporation of young members into the cooperatives by paying 50% of their contribution to the share capital or contributing 5.73 million euros in additional aid for young people who join the agricultural activity through the entities priority associations compared to those that do not.

In addition, also in collaboration with Urcacyl, the creation of youth groups by cooperatives will be promoted in order to increase the connection of young members with the cooperative movement.

Lastly, the Board is already working with the University to promote the Master’s Degree in Cooperatives, which is also part of that 24-27 Plan.
