The Community of Madrid supports the protection of quality agricultural products proposed by the European Parliament (EP) with two new seals of distinction that will be launched soon: ‘Artisan Products’ and ‘High Mountain Products’.
Food prepared 100% manually may adhere to the first, without the participation of industrial machinery. To the second may be added those that have been made at more than 800 meters high. The activities included under this new guarantee will be very varied, ranging from the production of dairy or meat derivatives, to the handling and preparation of honey, jams or liqueurs.
The new distinctions are intended to recognize those agri-food products that have been made by hand or in high mountain areas, in accordance with demanding quality standards and respectful of the environment.
